Supernatural Brownies

 

 

~ Makes 24 2-inch bars ~

 

2 sticks unsalted butter

8 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, cut into 1/4" pieces

4 large eggs

½ tsp salt

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup flour

 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13x9x2 pan and line with buttered parchment or foil.

  • Bring a pan of water to a boil and turn off the heat. Mix butter and chocolate in heatproof bowl and set over the pan. Stir occasionally until melted.

  • Whisk eggs together, then whisk in salt, sugar, and vanilla. Stir in melted chocolate mixture. Fold in flour.

  • Pour into prepared pan and spread out for an even surface. Bake 45 minutes until batter is firm and a shiny crust has formed. Cool in pan on rack. Wrap pan in plastic wrap and keep at room temperature until serving time. Or, refrigerate overnight.

  • To serve, unmold, remove parchment paper, and replace with a cutting board. Flip cake right side up and cut into 2 inch squares.
